Huge parts of the wheel housings can later be seen on the finished model. So the default plastic grids were replaced by some mesh.
On the front of the car (front splitter) there is a wooden plank to protect the underbody parts from damage while scratching over the track.

I recreated it with one layer of brushed beige paint covered by a layer of black. Then the black was partially sanded away. The same happens on the real car, where the wood is painted black and after some laps this paint is scratched away by the track.
